About Story Cure

Who I am

Hi, I'm Laura Priebe, and I conceived the idea of Story Cure after recording the stories from my mother-in-law's life in 2018.  It was a very rewarding experience, and provided a wonderful keepsake for our children.  I decided to develop the process further and offer it to others.

The pocket watch I am wearing in this portrait is a family heirloom, and symbolizes the value of reflecting on the passage of time.  The same watch is captured in our logo.

I believe that being present for someone as they tell their story is a tangible way to show them love.  As a skilled listener who is not an active participant in the story, I can allow my clients to explore their past in a safe environment.  As I record it and curate the stories into a cohesive project, I give my clients the gift of not only hearing them, but also sharing themselves with their family members, perhaps more fully than ever before.

Resources

The following resources have been impactful as I have developed Story Cure.

  • Listen to My Life, Visual Tool, by Sibyl Towner and Sharon Swing
  • Translating Your Past, book by Michelle Van Loon
  • The Girl Who Wore Freedom, film by Christian Taylor
  • Stephen Ministry Training, 100+ hours of training in one on one caregiving
